December Empties

Not many empties this month. I think I did quite well this year getting though some products.

Redken Pillow Proof - this didn't dry my hair as fast as the KMS stuff. I won't buy again.

Klorane Dry Shampoo - I loved this. They sell it at Shoppers, so I might pick some up next time I'm there.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in Mat Black - this lasted forever. It finally dried out on me. I did really like it, but I'm trying the Stila one and I have a couple of those to get through.

Fresh Seaberry Face Oil - My go-to oil. I have repurchased full and tracked down a mini size for traveling.

Benefits Pore-fessional powder - This was a 2 use sample, It was ok, but I don't think I'd buy it. I'd try it again if I had a bigger sample though.

The Body Shop Lip Butter in Passionfruit - This, like the coconut one last month, has changed texture, so I'm chucking it.

TEA! Now I'm kinda cheating because I got the Davids Tea Advent Calendar this year these are the ones I wouldn't go buy a big size.
  • Organic Mother's Little Helper - I already have a tin of this and I love it. It's suppose to help you sleep. It's nice to have before bed, but I don't find that it puts me to sleep any faster.
  • Quangzhou Milk Oolong - it was ok.
  • Organic Vanilla Chai - I found it tasted too much like fake vanilla.
  • Apple Custard - too mild of an apple taste.
  • Organic Detox - this is ok, but I have tons of it.
  • Coco Chai Rooibos - it was ok.
  • English Breakfast - this was just too plain for me to buy a full size. I have so many other teas like it.
  • Genmaicha - this was a weird tea that after the three cups that you get in the tin, I kinda hated it.
  • Creme Caramel Rooibos - it was ok, but it wasn't sweet enough as I expected it to be.
I also finished a bag of Strawberry Shortcake. I wouldn't buy it again.

That's it for 2014! Let's see what my totals were:

Teeth Products - 7
Lip Products - 4
Body Products - 21
Hair Products - 22
Face Products - 62
Make-up - 15
Perfume - 11
Nail Products - 8
Randoms (ie. antiperspirants, cotton pads, etc.) - 17
Tea - 23

Not bad. Can you tell I was working on my skin care this year? I got rid of a lot of sample size things at the beginning of the year and surprising a lot of tea. Let's see how I do in 2015!

Birchbox - December 2014

So Birchbox has finally came to Canada! Since I canceled two boxes, I figured I'd try it out. I wasn't disappointed.

In December's Birchbox:
  • Harvey Prince Ageless Liquid Loofah - sample size 15mL $1.10 - full size 355mL $26.00
  • Benefit High Beam Highlighter - sample size 2.5mL $6.15 - full size 13mL $32.00
  • Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator - sample size 20g $5.67 - full size 120g $34.00

It's a nice change from all makeup. The liner and the high beam will go into the use up bag, but everything else will go right into the bathroom.

December Favourites

So sadly I don't have any new favourites. I've been mostly just still loving everything from last month. Since it's winter and my skin gets super dry, the Ultra Repair Cream has been a life saver.

ipsy - December 2014

The last ipsy of 2014. I'm sorry it's a crappy photo. I was trying to take some pictures at night to catch up on posts.

Included in the month's bag:
  • Sexy Hair 450 Blow Out Heat Defense Blow Dry Spray Mini - sample size 50mL $7.58 - full size 125mL $18.95
  •  Tarte Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara - sample size 0.1oz $10.00 - full size 0.24oz $24.00
  •  Cailyn Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid - sample size 0.09oz - full size 0.09oz $15.00
  •  NYX Butter Lip Balm in Marshmallow - sample size 0.14oz - full size 0.14oz $4.00
  • Beauty Without Cruelty AHA 3% Facial Cleanser - sample size 2oz - full size (travel size) 2oz $ 2.99
Retail value of this month's bag: $39.57 ($1.54 less than last month)

This bag wasn't all that bad. Everything will go into the use up pile though since I've got quite a stash of products now.

ipsy was the only subscription I didn't cancel this year and I have no doubts about keeping it. I really do like the products and the variety that we get in them.

November Empties

I'm slowly working through my stash of products. My goal is to get all of my products in one set of drawers instead of three or four boxes plus the drawers. I'm trying not to buy anymore things until I use a bunch up. More to come in Project 10 Pan, that I'll be posting around New Year's.

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat - it's old and isn't drying all that well. Time to go.

OPI Nail Envy - it's old and has gotten thick on me. Time to go.

Gillette Satin Care Vitamin E shave gel - I rarely use shave gel so it takes me forever to get through one. Finally finished this one.

Lush's Ocean Salt - Ol' faithful. I will repurchase after I get through some scrubs.

Clinique Moisture Surge mini - This is suppose to put moisture into your skin but it actually seem to dry me out. I kept it at work for a quick fix and finally finished it. I wouldn't buy the full size.

Origins A Perfect World toner - This is my go-to toner. I will repurchase until I find something better.

Belvada Coconut Lip Butter - dupe for the same product at the Body Shop. It changed texture so it's going.

I finished a Luscious Watermelon and a Tropicalia from Davids Tea. I'm slowing working through my tea collection as well.

November Favourites

I have favourites again! I've been trying out some new stuff lately and I've been liking a few new things and rediscovering old favs.

KMS Free Shape drying spray - I tried the Revlon spray but I like this one better. It just seems to dry my hair faster.

Thymes Body Scrub - I found this in my stash when I ran out of my Ocean Salt. I'm really liking it.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream - Where has this been all my life?! I'm using this as a night cream and it's been really helping with my uber dry skin. (Thanks winter.)

Fresh Seaberry Facial Oil - I use this as a serum and extra moisturizer. I love this stuff and it seems to help with my redness.

November Nail Polish Colours

November is hunting camp season and painting my nails is pointless. They just chip badly every time.

China Glaze in Feel The Breeze - Pink Cream - Beautiful colour. One of my new favourites.

Nanacoco in Ocean Breeze - Blue Metallic - It's pretty sheer with two coats but it's a pretty blue. Might be better on my toes next time.

Deborah Lippmann in Across The Universe - Blue Glitter - I wore this one my toes all month. It was a pain to get on right and a pain to get off. It's stunning though.

ipsy - November 2014

I'm sorry this is so late. November was a busy month.

I finally had enough ipsy points to get something!

For 500 points I got a Evian Facial Spray. I've always wanted to try this and with winter/extreme dry skin coming I figured why not?

Now for the bag itself. Pretty silver glitter bag. It's not glued on glitter, it's within the plastic. So it won't get all over everything. This is going to make a great clutch.

Included in November's ipsy bag:
  • Elizabeth Mott's You're So Fine liquid liner in Glitterati - sample size 3g - full size 3g $17.99
  • Temptu S/B Highlighter in Pink Pearl - sample size 0.1oz $2.75 - full size 1oz $27.50
  • Be A Bombshell Eye Base in Submissive - sample size 2.5g - full size 2.5g $14
  • Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Hairspray - sample size 1.5oz $1.38 - full size 9oz $8.29
  • J.Cat Beauty Wonder Lip Paint in Red Potion - sample size 10mL - full size 10mL $4.99
Retail value of this months bag: $41.11 ($6.35 less than last month)

I am not sad about anything in this bag. I'm going to try out the eye base, but I may end up giving it to Mum. The highlighter will go into the use up pile, but the others will go into my stash for a later date.

October Empties

I didn't do awesome at emptying products but I did go through all of my make up and decided that some had to go.

Kirkland Facial Wipes - this should be no surprise to this blog. I go through these pretty regularly.

Avon Naturals Shower Gel in Juicy Watermelon - this was ok. It didn't leave a scent behind. Honestly it wasn't overly watermelon smelling.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Clear - I used this as a brow gel. It's not empty, but you can tell by the colour that it's time for it to go. I'm not sure if I'll repurchase it or not.

Avon Mosaic Effects crackle top coat in Black and in White - this were given it me used. I can't see me ever using them, so I'm tossing them.

Essie Quick-E Drying Drops - I love this stuff. I have repurchased and will be buying more when it goes on sale.

H2O+ Aqualibrium Marine Cleansing Gel - a little sample I got in a beauty box. I wouldn't go on the hunt for it but I'd use it again if I got another sample.

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Mascara - it was ok. It didn't really do anything for me lashes and seemed to dry out quickly.

Davidstea Pink Flamingo - I will be buying this once I've gotten through all of my teas. This was really yummy.

October Favourites

I have favourites this month!

Now that I'm back to being a redhead again, I'm trying very hard not to strip my colour. At the same time, I only wash my hair a couple of times a week, so I need a good deep cleaning shampoo. My stylist recommended Redken's Body Full line. A volumizing line, it's designed not to weigh the hair down by getting rid of all the extra oils and junk. Mind you, I do have dry hair, so I put lots of oil back into my hair afterwards, but this shampoo really cleans my hair.

I've recently gotten rematched for foundation. I was wearing my summer colour still and I'm winter pale now so I needed a new colour. So to Sephora I went. NARS makes a super light-coloured foundation called Siberia. It's basically as light as the store sells. So NARS Sheer Matte foundation in Siberia is a new favourite. Now only I could get the chance to wear some makeup once and awhile.

With the holidays coming up, it's time to dig out the ol' staple red. Mine is NARS in Red Lizard. It's a blue-toned red. I'm a cool toned person, so it's great on me. I have so many red lipsticks now though, I'll have to try out a bunch more.

October Nail Polish Colours

October was kinda a lazy month for nail painting.

LA Colors Color Craze in Power Outage - Fuschia Metallic - this wasn't bad for a cheap brand

Cuccio Colour in Tel-Aviv About It! - nude cream - I really hate Cuccio Colour's formulation.

LA Splash in Blowfish - hot pink cream - this polish is super thick. I'm not sure if that's how it's suppose to be or it's going bad already.

OPI in My Favorite Ornament - Silver Glitter - I love this polish. Glitter is just so damn hard to get off!

Deborah Lippmann in Cleopatra in New York - Black with Gold Glitter - I wasn't impressed with this polish.

Models Own in Red Sea - Sheer Red with Red Holographic Glitter - I wasn't impressed with this polish either.

Topbox - October 2014

This is my last TopBox. I've cancelled. It just wasn't worth it and I've found the product brand have gone down hill.

They did have the addon again this month. Since I was having great luck with it, I did it again.

A cream blush from Teeez in Beach Glow Brown. The colour is pretty enough and I don't have many cream blushes. This blush goes for about $40, but I can't seem to find out where it's sold in Canada.

Included in this months TopBox:
  • Indigena Skincare Blueberry Bliss Sugar Scrub - sample size 15mL $4.50 - full size 200mL $60
  • The Balm Cosmetics How 'Bout Them Apples? Lip and Cheek Cream Palette (sample in Pie) - sample size 0.02oz $0.91 - full size (palette) 0.7oz $32
  • Prestige Cosmetics Magic Pen Lip Liner - sample size 0.01oz - full size 0.01oz $8.99
  • Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II - sample size 5mL $25 - full size 15mL $75
Everything will go into the use up pile except for the full size blush. That will go into storage for when I get rid of all my sample sizes.

Beauty Box 5 - October 2014

This is my last Beauty Box 5. I've cancelled. It's just not worth it to me.

Included in October's box:
  • Chapstick Hydration Lock - sample size 1 stick - full size 1 stick $2.99
  • Bellapierre Cosmetics Cheek and Lip Stain in Pink - sample size 0.176 oz. $11.42 - full size 0.31 oz $19.99
  • Nanacoco Nail Polish in Ocean Breeze - sample size 1 bottle - full size 1 bottle $3.95
  • Extend Your Beauty Cosmetic Tool - sample size 1 stick - full size 1 stick $5.49
  • Lashem Picture Perfect - sample size 0.17 oz. $1.32 (approx.) - full size 0.5 oz $ 3.95
Retail value of this month's box: $25.17 ($9.19 more than last month)

I'll end up using everything but I was most excited for the tool. It'll come in handy for using up every last drop of products.

ipsy - October 2014

It's ipsy time again! I'm still loving this subscription. This month's bag is teal. Not a colour I have a lot of, but it will work well if I'm wearing all black, let's say.

Included in this month's bag:
  • Jesse's Girl Mineralized Baked Shadow Powder in Graphite Frost - sample size 2g - full size 2g $3.99
  • Figs & Rouge Mango & Mandarin Shea Butter Hand Cream - sample size 20mL - full size 20mL 3.95 GBP (approx. 6.99 CAD)
  • Epice Purifying Exfoliant - sample size 1oz. $9.70 (approx.) - full size 3.3oz $32.00
  • Starlooks Lip Gloss in Guilty Pleasure - sample size 0.03oz $2.78 (approx.) - full size 0.14oz $13.00
  • Ecru Acacia Protein BB Cream - sample size 1oz. x2 - full size 1oz. $12.00 (x2 $24.00)
Retail value of October's bag: $47.46 ($17.19 more than last month)

The eyeshadow isn't very pigmented as it's sheer, so it's going to my mom, who likes that. The gloss is going right into my purse as it's a mini and I'll probably use it up faster that way. The rest will go into the use-up pile.

First Impressions - Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 Trio

BzzAgent Campaign - Pantene Pro-V Ultimate 10 Trio

So I started BzzAgent and this was the first campaign I got. FULL SIZE PRODUCTS! I was stunned. I was expecting minis at most. Of course, I'm a beauty product hoarder and really didn't need anymore hair products ( I have 4 sets open in my shower atm) so to have to try out more kinda sucked for me. I took a couple of sets out and gave this a go.

The shampoo was nice. This set has a okay scent. It's not bad, but it's not my favourite. It cleaned my 3 day hair just as well as my clarifying shampoo does. I was surprised by this actually.

The conditioner was kinda meh. It's your basic conditioner really. It didn't do anything special for me. I still had to put my It's a 10 in to detangle. (Yay for fine hair.)

The BB Creme also was meh. I have lots of leave in products similar and really I prefer oils since my hair is super dry 'cause I get it dyed.

My Mum LOVES this trio. She tried it once and was going on and on about how soft her hair was. I may just give it to her.

Overall: Would I buy it? Maybe if it was on sale. I did get some coupons with it as well. I'll probably just give them to Mum so she can use them.

A Past Memory

I might be Nova Scotian by birth, but in my heart I’m a Prince Edward Islander.
I spent all of my childhood summers on the beach on the island. I lived on the sand and in the water. I never wanted to leave.

I met Nate when I was 4 or 5.

I was digging on a sand bar and saw an old lady standing in between the bars. She was staring at her feet. Being the curious kid that I was (and still am), I went over to see what she was looking at. There was a giant periwinkle. This thing was the size of a softball. Usually they are the size of marbles. She showed me the animal and was telling me stories about them. A boy of 8 or so came up to her. She was his grandmother. He wanted to go home and eat.

She introduced him as Nathaniel Alexandre. An Acadian. They lived about a mile away; too far for a little girl like me to go visit alone.

I didn't see him again for a few years. I was 9 and on my way to get lobster with my great-aunt. We were headed to the Acadian lobster plant. It was a Sunday. We had already gone to church, but mass was just getting out. Traffic was crazy! That’s when I saw him again. My great-aunt knew his grandmother. We stopped to say hello, and the women chatted for awhile. Nate and I spoke very little. I didn't know French at the time, and he was not happy about speaking English.

The conversation went like this:

“Hi.” I said.
“Hey,” said 12 year old Nate.
“How are you?”
“Never mind.”

He walked off. I was a tad pissed at him for being “stupid” and I went back to by aunt. We went for our lobster and went home to cook it all. I never forget that conversation. It made me want to learn French so badly.

Another few years went by. I was 12 this time and I could explore the beaches alone. I decided that I was going to walk down the beach and see if I could find him and show him that I had learned some French in school. It wasn't long until I found him.

He was sitting on a surfboard that was beached.
I went up to him and said: “Hey.”
“Allo.” The French again.
“Oh you're going to be like that now.” I had attitude.
“What do you mean?”
“All French and whatever.”
He laughed. I loved his laugh.
“Well I’m Acadian. What did you expect?”
“Do you remember me?”
“Of course I remember you. You’re Charlie’s granddaughter. The crazy red-headed one.”
Great, I thought. I'm the crazy red-head.
“Sure am. How do you know my grandpa?”
“Hard not too. Your family’s been here as long as mine.”
I sat beside him. “I suppose. Why are you sitting on the beach on the board?”
“Tide’s out.”
I nodded. We sat there for a few minutes, until his mother called him for lunch.
“Where are you staying?” He said.
“Okay. Maybe I'll come down that way later.”
“Okay.” I walked back down the beach, beaming. I was a 12 year old in love with a French guy.

My mother knew where I had went. Nate’s beach was on the shore where my land is today. It wasn't mine while he was alive.

He didn't come down that day or the next. He came the day we were leaving. I was sitting on a bench looking at the water, waiting to get in the car to go home. He said that he was sorry for not coming sooner. I gave him the cold shoulder. He wanted my address. He would write. I gave him my address.

He wrote every week. Little things about school, church, the weather. Normal stuff for us to write about. I found out that he was 15 that summer. He was 3 years older than me.

The next summer was busy for me and I only got to go to PEI for 2 weeks instead of 6. I was 13, finally a teenager. I was boy crazy and missed seeing him. That was the year that we got our own cottage on our own land. That meant I was going to be neighbours with him.

We saw each other practically every day. I would go to the beach and sit and wait for him to be done at the farm and we would sit and talk all day and most of the night.

One night, I fell asleep on the beach. We had been roasting marshmallows and I was so full of them and the fresh sea air that I laid down for a moment and was out. I’m not sure how long I was out, but he woke me up.

“Time to go home Princess.”
“Huh? What time is it?”
“10:30 or so.”
“Shit!” I jumped up and gathered my things.
“Wait. Sit for a minute. I want to ask you something.” I sat. “Would it be okay if I kissed you?”
“What?” Remember, I was 13.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Why are you asking?”
“Because I’m suppose to.”
“Um. Okay. I guess.”

First kiss for both of us. First love for both of us. We wrote just about everyday until October. In my grandpa’s church, there’s a big turkey dinner fundraiser on the weekend of my birthday. Of course we always attend and help out.

October is too cold to be hanging around the beach. We stayed in land with my grandpa. I wasn't expecting to see Nate that weekend.

We went down to a cousin’s to visit. They live on the shore. They also happen to live down the road from the cemetery where my grandma (and now my grandpa) is buried.

I was sitting there, on the grass in front of the grave, telling her all about Nate. Creepy, yes I know. She was 5 when I died, give me a break. So I’m talking away when I hear a car pull in the church yard.

I jumped up and ran to him and gave him a huge hug.
“What are you doing sitting on the ground in a graveyard?”
“Talking to Grandma.”
“O..kay.” Typical boy response.
“What are you doing here?”
“Drove by, saw you there. Happy birthday. I didn’t get you anything because I was going to mail it to you on Monday.”
“Oh, thanks.”
He walked me back down the road and kissed me goodbye.

The package came Thursday. It was a ring. My hands are tiny, but they were even smaller then. It doesn't even fit on my little finger now. I do still have it.

We lost our virginities the following summer.

Nate turned 18 that year as well. Graduated from high school. This is when the story gets sad.

He had enlisted in the Canadian Army as an infantry soldier. Front line kind of deal. I didn't hear from him while he was doing basic training. I didn't hear from him during his courses. I didn't know what to think.

Birthday 15 came around. My secret Army boyfriend hadn't written me in almost 6 months.  We had an Indian summer that year. It was really warm on my birthday and I decided to go for a walk on the beach. I took my shoes off and went searching for Sea Glass.
“Allo.” It was Nate’s cousin, Drew.
“Bonne Fete.” (Happy Birthday)
“Merci.” (Thanks)
“Nate’s home.”
“Oh is he now.” I was pissed at him. First fight I guess.
“Yeah, he’s at Ana’s.” Ana is another cousin.
I said nothing.
“He wants to see you, but can't get away. Everyone is fussing over him”
I followed Drew to the house. I was wearing the ring. Hadn't taken it off since the day I got it.

I saw him and started crying. He hugged me and apologized over and over.
“I’m being deployed.” He started crying.

I stood in shock. I didn't say anything. His grandmother came over and dragged him away. I left. Drew drove me back to my aunt’s house. That was the last time I saw Nate for 3 years.

On May 7th, 1998, Nate turned 19. He was allowed a call home. They were in the middle of nowhere, so calls home were rare. He called me. We were allowed to talk for 15 minutes. We didn't say much more than “I love you” and “I miss you” over and over. There was lots of silence, just us listening to the other breathe and cry into the phone.

In August, he was M.I.A. A bombing. Everyone was accounted for, except for him. His mother called me to tell me. That’s when my depression started.

Little did I know, he wasn't dead. He wasn’t in Bosnia. He was in Calgary. He had deserted. He was hiding out with his sister. No one, including his mother, knew.

He was in a car accident while he was there. In a coma for almost a year. I was 17 when he called me.

I picked up the phone after school one day. I was the only one home, so I picked up the strange number.

“Princess.” A sigh of relief.
“Is this a joke?” I was yelling.
“Max, listen. I’m alive, barely, but I’m alive. In a hospital in Calgary. I can’t talk long, but I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”
“Bad, I guess.”
“I’m blind.”
“Shush!” (Catholics…)
“What’s the good news?”
“I’m coming home.”

The summer of 1999, Drew taught me to drive. Nate couldn’t, obviously. He took his blindness very badly; was very depressed. He would sit on the beach with me and tell me about overseas, ask me about the water. We would just sit and talk.

Later in the summer, we were all out sailing. Nate fell and hit his head. He was fine.

“Princess?” I was bending over him to make sure he was ok.
“I forgot how blue your eyes were.”
We all freaked out. The hit on the head gave Nate his sight back.

He was rushed to the hospital. It turned out that he had a tumor sitting on his optic nerve; it had been temporarily making him blind. He went into surgery asap to have it removed. He was going to be fine.

I was graduating from high school the next year. I was 18, Nate was 21. He was supposed to take me to prom. I was so excited for all of my friend’s to finally meet him.

A few weeks before prom, Nate was complaining of headaches and loss of vision. His mother was concerned and took him to the doctor. The tumor had returned and was growing too quickly. It had to be removed.

I went to prom dateless. Nate was still in the hospital. The day after I graduated, was the day my life ended. Nate was dying. The tumor had grown fast because it was cancerous. He had weeks, maybe months to live.

They brought him to the mainland for treatment. I lived at the hospital. I still can’t go into that wing today and it’s been 13 years.

On August 15th, 2001, his church’s priest came to visit. Nate took one look at me and said:
“Remember that ring?”
“Of course.” I had grown out of it but I wore it on a chain around my neck.
“I wanted to marry you when you graduated from University you know.”
I was in shock yet again. He had a way of doing that to me.
“Will you marry me now instead?”
I nodded because I couldn't speak.
The priest married us right there, in the hospital room. It was never legal by the government, but it was by the church and that’s all that mattered to Nate.

On August 19th, I woke up in his arms. He didn’t.

September Nail Polish Colours

September was an okay month for painting my nails. We're busy on the farm, so it just gets ruined.

Avon Speed Dry in Grey Flash - grey cream with multi-coloured shimmer - It's a nice neutral with an extra something with the glitter.

Nailtini in Caviar Cocktail - silver metallic - I want to like it but it's so streaky.

OPI in Suzi & The 7 Dusseldorfs - purple metallic - One of my favourites. I wore it on my toes for the first half of the month.

Rockstar Nails in Pink? - pink cream - it was okay.

Rainbow Honey in Midnight Fountain - blue glitter - I was really surprised in this polish. I wasn't expecting much but when I started painting it, I was impressed. You can really see the glitter in the below picture of my thumb nail. It's quite pretty. I wore this on my toes for the latter half of the month.

September Empties

I emptied/used up some more stuff! I vow to use up some makeup next month.

up&up regular cotton rounds - a staple in my life. I use them to take off nail polish and such.

Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Polish Remover - I didn't noticed any moisturizing going on, but it takes off polish nicely.

La Fresh Instant Body Smoother - I used this to wash my hands. It was okay. Can't say I'd buy some though.

Clear Clinic Clear Spot Treatment - this did nothing for me.

MaskerAide Weather Warrior Sheet Mask - I don't really like sheet masks, but I used it.

Belvada Blackhead Facial Mask - I used the other one, as predicted. I won't be buying it.

I'm still working away at the tea pile. This month I've got Strawberry Ginger, Paradise Found and Jolly Jellybean. I'd probably buy all three, but they are all discontinued. Why?!

September Favourites

Again, I suck and have NO favourites again. I really need to start trying new products and liking them.

Beauty Box 5 - September 2014

This month's theme was "Balancing Act". I don't see that here, with the samples.

Included in this month's box:

  • Sally Hansen Toe Spacers - sample size 1 pair - full size 1 pair $1.99
  • My Beauty Spot Nail Polish in Purple - sample size 1 bottle $4.17 - full size 6 bottles $24.99
  • Dr. Lin Acne Spot Corrector - sample size 0.5oz $4.50 - full size 1oz $8.99
  • Natural Style by FUBU Deep Conditioner - sample size 0.5oz x2 $0.83- full size 12oz $9.99
  • Nicka K New York Eyelight Crayon in Charcoal - sample size 0.056oz - full size 0.056oz $4.49
Retail value of September's BB5: $15.98 ($17.74 less than last month)

So I paid $17.10 for a box that contained $15.98 worth of products?! I don't think so. I've cancelled Beauty Box 5 and October's box will be my last. I probably won't be using anything but the nail polish from this box and that's only because it's purple.

Use up pile it goes.

Another month where I picked a regular box, another nail polish.

  • Teeez Nail Lacquer in Pretty in Pyrite sample size 8.5mL - full size 8.5mL $15.00
Retail value of this month's box: $58.31 ($1.68 less than last month)

Everything is just going right to the use up pile.

I have decided to cancel TopBox. Of course, I cancelled too late for October's box, so there will be at least one more review.

August Nail Polish Colours

August was another great polish month, but not so much for my nails. My nails are peeling worse than ever!

Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Absinthe with Starrily BzzzBzzz on top - green metallic and black and gold chunky glitter - two coats of both -  I felt like being a little fancy and I wanted to use the glitter.

OPI Designer De Better - silver foil with bronze specks - two coats - I forgot how much I loved this colour. I don't have anything like it.

Revlon Copperglaze Platinum - copper shimmer - A very simple natural colour.

Nicole by OPI Diva Into The Pool - teal metallic - I actually wore this on my toes for most of the month.

Joe Fresh Lavender - purple cream - I like purple. I don't really need anymore reasons.

OPI Rising Star - copper metallic - I was feeling fall-like. Copper did it for me.

August Empties

August seemed to be the month where I ran out of my staples. Ugh.

Kirkland Facial Wipes - my new favs.

Simple Cleansing Wipes - I randomly found this pack with a couple left. They're my old favs, but more expensive. I will probably buy them when they go on sale.

up & up Exfoliating Cotton Rounds - same old cotton rounds I always use.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster - I don't really notice the collagen part, but the Vitamin C helps with my redness.

Balea Purifying Face Mask in Jasmine & Cactus Flower - it was ok. I wouldn't repurchase.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant - I love this stuff but I have some more samples to get through first before I think about buying full size.

Belvada Blackhead Facial Mask - This is one of two samples I received. You'll probably see the other one in September, but I can't say I'd buy it.

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser - I like this but I'm trying out some cheaper alternatives before repurchasing.

KMS Free Shape - I love this stuff but my stylist moved and her new salon doesn't carry it. I might buy some more anyways once I'm done with another kind of dry spray.

Roots - my favorite hair treatment. I have some samples to get through before buying it again though.

KMS Hair Stay hairspray - this was okay. I'm not picky with hairspray as I don't use it often.

Seche Vite Top Coat - it's lived a long life, but it's tacky now, so it's time to go.

Be Delectable Hand Cream in Coconut & Cream - this was ok, but I'm not a huge fan of coconut so I used it up and I won't be looking out for it in stores.

It's So Big Mascara - I keep getting samples of this. It's ok but I can't get it locally, so I probably won't buy it.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs - not my favourite. Lots of samples to get through.
